LAWRENCE HALPRIN, FOUNTAINS
HLC board members get a special tour of the exhibit Lawrence Halprin, Fountains on November 23, 2021 with Judy Margles, executive director of the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. This original exhibit, presented in the museum's main gallery, examined the story of Portland’s Open Space Sequence from its early history as the site of a vibrant Jewish community, the impact of urban renewal on the area and the invitation to Halprin to design a series of fountains in downtown, and Halprin's design methodology and inspiration that led to the creation of these world-class fountain plazas.
